January Fashion Tips

We are full swing into 2020 ladies and gents, let’s jump straight onto new trends of the new year that will keep you up to date in the fashion industry. 

 

Puffer Jacket:

An essential piece of any wardrobe, especially in January is a jacket. Now let’s be more specific, a puffer jacket. To stay warm in this freezing New England weather, a puffer jacket can pull any outfit together while keeping you cozy. My personal favorite, mostly because its my favorite color, is a black one. Black goes with every outfit and will add a sense of dimension to other colors like red, orange, or blue. They can be affordable, almost every clothing store will have some version of a puffer jacket, you just have to do some digging!

 

Neons:

Neon colors have always been a trend but this year they are bigger than ever. Colors like neon yellow, green, pink, and orange have taken over the fashion industry. Add a neon beanie to a neutral-colored outfit for a pop of color. Or make neon your main focal point by pairing a neon sweater with black or white to give it something to bounce off of. Neon is even huge for the summer, bright colors tend to make you more tan, keep this in mind for the warm months ahead!

 

Prints:

 

Many types of prints come and go in the fashion industry but this year has been a crazy year for printed clothing and accessories. Different prints like leopard, gingham, cheetah, stripes, even corduroy is considered a print. Pairing a leopard or cheetah shirt on some black pants can show your wild side. Or gingham pants with a solid top/sweater can add some fun into any look. Pair any prints with your puffer jacket and you are ready to take on the cold but still in style!

 

Denim:

Let’s be real this isn’t a trend, denim will always be a fashion staple no matter what year. What is a trend is denim on denim. Matching pieces of denim together, whether it be the same color or two different is HUGE. I know many people will think I am crazy because it’s also been a huge no-no in the fashion world but I am in love with this trend. Pairing a light wash denim jacket with light wash denim pants and a white tee makes the cutest look. Switch it up and wear a black denim jacket with dark blue wash jeans and the same white shirt would still be such a look! 

 

Bucket hats:

I had to throw in one accessory into the mix. One huge accessory trend right now is bucket hats, which I am the most excited for because I have a collection of bucket hats. Pairing a neutral-colored bucket hat to a printed or neon outfit helps make it casual. Or make the hat your main focus by getting a crazy tye-dye or printed one! Even try a cute denim hat that matches your jeans to make that denim on denim moment! 

 

Don’t be afraid to try new things when it comes to fashion, it is a world that is meant to be tested. Be you, and fashion is such a great way to express yourself!
